Hello Peeps… I guess I am back again.

After a long hiatus of not writing my blog, I’ve decided to restart this archaic habit of mine. Writing has always been a passion since young, and although I know most people don’t read as much as they use to, I’ll keep this option for those who still do. As per my previous blogs, this blog serves to help the lay people understand procedures and advancements in medical aesthetics and technology for those looking for solutions for beauty or for those similar to me, wish to age gracefully doing the things we love most. The coolest thing about being around in this field so long, you get to see how technology and mindsets evolve around new and old concepts, more depth understanding of old sciences and applications of new ones. Yes, I do admit, I am the old lady in this field despite not looking the part, but hey, you need to practice what you preach. Hopefully, this blog continues to spark interest and entertain the minds of people looking for information. As per usual, I will try to explain everything in the simplest way possible without having to resort to too many technical and medical jargons. The language here will be casual, so please do not take the jokes too seriously.

So what’s new with me? Well, I went through a difficult few years after the pandemic, with the death of my step mum, followed by the death of my dad within 2 years. The grief was unbearable especially since there were too many things happening at the same time, and despite being a clinician for the past 20 years, my father kept thinking that I was not practicing since I took a step into medical aesthetics since 2008. Which in hindsight, explained why they never consulted me for anything despite the fact that many of my peers would admit that I have one of the brightest minds in holistic medicine. But this is Asian parenting for you, no matter how good you are you are never good enough. Frustrations aside, I decided to channel my angst to a more productive outlet. I joined a new group to open up BEU Clinic in Sunway Velocity. It is now licensed and fully functioning, so if you want to have a more personalized private chat you can make an appointment to see me there. Yes, I still function ONLY by appointment. Work life balance is a big thing especially if you are reaching my age.

The other thing I started to heal me from the grief was a Masters. Yes peeps, I became a student again. I decided to uptake Masters in Medical Education under Faculty of Medicine University Malaya, my old alma mater. The first few days of being on campus brought back traumatic times during my undergraduate years, when my mum was bedridden and died in first year. But I survived, to come back and do another degree. Medical Education is a completely different ballgame from Medical sciences but it was definitely the right choice for me. I was always interested in educating the future generation to become good and empathic practitioners and possibly unite doctors for a common goal. After 20 years out of academy, there were indeed a lot of changes in how education is being viewed, shaped and taught. I’ve completed the strenuous 2 semesters, and now just working on my research project thesis to graduate from the course. Wish me luck and if you see my research survey circulating around the social medias, do help to answer. It is anonymous so I wouldn’t know who answered, so thank you in advance. I’ll put a link below in case you are interested to do the survey.
